Behind the goals: The pet transport service chosen by soccer stars

In the world of soccer, transfers and constant travel are a reality. But what happens to the furriest members of the family? For more than 20 years, Animal Cargo has specialized in a unique niche market: transporting the pets of professional soccer players around the world.

Twenty-three years of experience and 150 stories

“I arrived in Buenos Aires a few days ago and found several gifts that players had given me. I started to remember everything we’ve done in these 23 years,” says Fabio Cangiano, the company’s founder.

The company has transported more than 150 pets belonging to elite soccer players, including breeds such as French bulldogs, Shih Tzus, and Pomeranians, as well as larger pets such as German shepherds.

From Argentina to the world: the travels of famous soccer players’ pets

The service has accompanied some of the most renowned names in soccer on their international transfers:

  • Enzo Fernández: The world champion trusted the company to transport his dogs. A first trip took them to Belo Horizonte during the pandemic, and later, when he was transferred to Chelsea, his pets traveled from Portugal to England, and recently, back to Argentina.
  • Carlos Tévez: The “Apache” trusted the service to transport his poodle to Europe, and later his chow-chow, known as “Tajo de Sevilla.”
  • Nicolás Otamendi: The Argentine national team player transported his French bulldog from Italy to England.
  • Juan Maidana and Edwin Cardona: Their pets have also traveled the continent, with trips to Mexico and Colombia.

The challenge of moving soccer players’ pets: a personalized service

The success of this service lies in its personalization. Each transfer is a complex logistical operation, taking into account everything from the breed and size of the pet to the legislation of each country. The aim is for the animals to travel as safely and comfortably as possible, whether in the hold of the plane or in the cabin, ensuring that they are reunited with their owners safe and sound anywhere in the world.
